From Purcell to Bach

Friday, May 20 at 8pm PT Regretfully, guest artist Anthony Romaniuk is unable to join us in Seattle this month due to delays with artist visa processing. Associate Conductor Lee Mills will step in to conduct the Seattle Symphony in the From Purcell to Bach program. Organist Joseph Adam and harpsichordist Yuko Tanaka will also step in to join the orchestra for this program. Organist Joseph Adam unites the liturgical sounds of the organ with the elegance of a string orchestra in Handel’s inventive concerto. Muffat’s harmonic tribute to Italy blends German precision and French elegance to establish a new tradition of ensemble writing. Modeled after Bach's brilliant Violin Concerto, harpsichordist Yuko Tanaka performs Keyboard Concerto No. 3. It’s a tour de force for keyboard instruments, all led by Associate Conductor Lee Mills. Program: MUFFAT: Sonata No. 1 Armonico tributo PURCELL/arr. Anthony Romaniuk: An Imaginary Suite HANDEL/arr. Anthony Romaniuk: An Imaginary Organ Concerto J. S. BACH: Sinfonia from Cantata No. 106 J.
